Hidden Camera Catches College Student Spitting, Spraying Windex Into Roommates’ Food
The nightmarish roommate faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted
One of the roommates ate from a contaminated food container before she saw the footage.
Police have arrested 22-year-old Hayley King, a student at the University of Carolina who was found to be spraying Windex and spitting into her roommates’ food, The Associated Press reports. Footage of her actions was caught via hidden camera.
King’s roommates set up the camera after she refused to leave the apartment even after a number of unresolved arguments. They told police that they had become worried about what King would do in their absence.
The footage from February, which was uploaded to YouTube, shows Hayley taking her roommates’ food out of the refrigerator, spitting into the containers, and spraying Windex into them. The ingestion of Windex can result in severe medical concerns, including collapse, loss of vision, vomiting blood, severe brain damage, or coma.
Authorities in Columbia, South Carolina, confirmed that one of the roommates ate from an affected container before seeing the video.
King, who “confessed to the incident,” is charged with unlawful, malicious tampering with human drug product or food. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
