Certain foods are known to contain antioxidants, vitamins and other necessities that are vital in clearing up our skin, so why not start consuming them right away? We’ve gathered up five delicious smoothies full of the best ingredients for you to try so you can drink your way to a clear complexion in no time.

1 cup Unsweetened Coconut Water
1/2 Flesh of Avocado
1/2 cup Frozen Blueberries
Handful of Organic Spinach Leaves
1-2 tablespoons of Hemp (pea based protein)
1/2 teaspoon Spirulina Powder

Blend all of these nutrient-packed ingredients together for a radiant glow! Avocado is chock full of nutrients and is proven to improve complexions of dry, dull skin from the inside out by building skin’s cell membranes. Spirulina Powder helps tone skin for a more youthful look while the Vitamin K found in spinach works to improve your complexion. (Via

Glowing Skin Coconut Water Smoothie

1 cup Coconut Water, chilled
1 cup Strawberries (frozen or fresh)
1 cup Organic Baby Carrots
1 cup Mango Chunks (frozen or fresh)
1 Navel Orange, pealed

This recipe provides you with enough to make two smoothies, so pop one in the fridge for later or share one with a friend on a hot summer day! The mangos and oranges together contain a ton of Vitamins: A, B, C, E and K, while providing a natural sweetness to the smoothie so there’s no need for added sugars. The strawberries are also a great source of Vitamin C, which is known to help boost the collagen in your skin. The carrots also supply the added benefit of anti-aging antioxidants. (Via

Glowing Skin Berry Smoothie

1/2 cup Blueberries
1/4 cup Raspberries
1/4 cup Strawberries
1/4 cup Kale
1 Greek Yogurt (0% Fat)
1 tablespoon Honey
2 teaspoons Flax Seeds
1/4 cup Water

Berries are one of the best sources of antioxidants, and this smoothie is loaded with them. The antioxidants help protect your skin against the sun’s harmful rays as well as boost collagen production. The fiber and protein found in Greek yogurt will help with your skin’s elasticity and flax seeds contain Omega-3 fatty acids which reduces redness and inflammation while also rehydrating your skin. 1/2 cup Plain Coconut Water
2 Frozen, Ripe Bananas, peeled and sliced
1 cup Pineapple (frozen or fresh), chopped
1 cup Mango (frozen or fresh), chopped
2 cups Spinach or Kale
1/2 Avocado, sliced
Optional: 1 tablespoon Flaxseed (oil or ground)

Coconut water is super hydrating, so anytime you can find it in a smoothie it’ll do wonders for your skin by making you appear more awake and refreshed. The mango is high in carotenoids (the ingredient that gives yellow, red and orange fruits and vegetables their colors), which absorbs really well in the outer layers of your skin. Consuming these deeply pigmented foods can take your skin from dry and dull to rosy and glowing simply by ingesting them! (

Makes Skin Feel

Makes Skin Look

To Use As A Cleanser:

Dispense one pump into wet palms and rub hands to create a lather. Massage gently onto wet skin for one minute, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Admire how bouncy your skin looks and then follow with your usual skincare regimen.

To Use As A Makeup Remover:

Use two pumps to create a lather in wet palms and gently massage into wet face and neck in small circular motions for a full minute to eliminate all traces of makeup (bye, panda eye!). Rinse thoroughly and follow with your usual skincare regimen.

As A 5-Minute Wash-Off Mask:

Apply a generous layer to clean, dry skin (we love doing this in the shower!). After 5 minutes, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Splash with cold water for a refreshing finish. Follow with your usual skincare regimen.

What is the pH?

We've consistently yielded results between 5.5 - 6. Results can vary depending on testing conditions.

Why are there real pieces of blueberry in the cleanser?

You may notice real blueberry pieces that have settled together at the bottom because of the dense, bouncy texture. Due to the natural formulation, the amount of visible blueberry sediment varies from bottle to bottle and with the photoshoot lighting we use, it's hard to capture on film.

Can I Recycle It?

Yes! Our travel-friendly plastic bottle is made with PET material and is 100% recyclable. Just rinse it after use and place it in your recycling bin. Make sure to separate the pump from the bottle. Then detach the top part of the pump and the plastic straw from the base. Only the top part of the pump and plastic straw can be recycled.

Our cardboard cartons are made with a blend of PEFC-certified recycled paper, free of acids and heavy metal, printed with soy ink, and are 100% recyclable.

See here for more information on our Recycling Send-Back Program with Terracycle.

Blueberries, raspberries and 100% grape juice made with Concord grapes are all brimming with plant nutrients, such as anthocyanins and polyphenols, which help to prevent the aging effects of oxidative damage to the skin. Tip: Look for "Contains 100% Fruit Juice" labels to ensure you're buying 100% juice and not a juice-drink or cocktail.

This smoothie is packed with collagen-boosting vitamin C to give you a fresh face to start the day. Tip: For even fresher flavor, squeeze your own OJ. Two large oranges will yield approximately 1 cup of juice.

Here's How To Get Beautiful Glowing Skin Overnight

Nothing beats the feeling of glowing, radiant skin. You know the feeling &mdash when your complexion looks so good you can't stop taking selfies or checking yourself out in any reflection you pass. No shame, OK? If your goal is to achieve this look on the regular (same), you've come to the right place. First things first: Yes, anyone can achieve *that* glow. "It is absolutely a myth that only those blessed with beautiful skin can have [glowing skin]," says board-certified dermatologist and founder of SKINFIVE, Dr. Ava Shamban. That's right, with a simple skin care routine and staying hydrated, anyone can be well on their way to ✨dewy ✨skin.

But before we get into how to get glowing skin, it's important to understand what it even is and how our skin can look that way. "This translates into a well hydrated, super moisturized complexion with just the right touch of natural oil," explains board-certified dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara. "Yes, the oils on your face make you glow too, it's not just the lotion in a bottle," she says. Alright, now that we understand the basics on radiant skin, here are 15 tips that will help you achieve it.

1. Stay hydrated.

I know, I know, you've heard it before, but anyone will tell you that the key to healthy looking skin is staying hydrated. So, grab yourself a cute water bottle (may I suggest a Hydroflask?) and make sure it's with you at all times because no matter what else you do, if you're not hydrated, your skin will show it.

2. Learn your skin type.

Before you can start treating your skin, it's important to know what kind of skin you have. Is it oily, dry, or a combination? Do some research or head to the dermatologist to get a definite answer. This way, you can make the most out of the products you use by picking lotions, washes, and masks out that specifically target your skin's biggest issues.

3. One word: Sunscreen.

I don't care if it isn't even sunny out, you should be wearing sunscreen every. single. day. UV rays damage your skin cells, and make your skin's surface uneven, meaning it won't "reflect the light very well, hence no glowiness," Dr. Shamban says. So, make it part of your morning routine and slap on suncreen every day!

4. Moisturize!

And while you're already applying cream to your face, make sure you moisturize as well. Dry skin looks dull, so hydrate your face at least once a day with a good moisturizer. Dr. Gohara says that for an extra hydration boost, especially in the winter, you can double moisturize. "Use a hydrating sheet mask over a layer of hyaluronic acid serum," she says.

5. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.

Dr. Gohara says washing your face with a gentle and hydrating cleanser is crucial to achieve the glow. "Harsh cleansers strip your skin of natural oils, leaving it dry and more likely to be irritated," she explains.

4. Purple Smoothie

Because it looks like blueberries, you probably won’t notice that you’re sipping on (gasp) cabbage&mdashtrust us, we tried this recipe and it’s delicious. The leafy purple vegetable is packed with vitamin C (again with the collagen production) and antioxidants that fight skin-damaging free radicals. In fact, it has similar properties to blueberries, which give this smoothie its delicious flavor. Both are also high in fiber needed for digestive health&mdashas in, they’ll aid the systems that are removing waste and unwanted toxins that affect the skin. So yes, we are telling you to drink your cabbage!

44 Comments on "Lemon Blueberry Muffins"

I had to come back and update my comment…oh my goodness thank you Jenny!! The recipe turned out well even for me and that’s a big deal because this is only the second thing I’ve ever baked ( and I don’t think pre-made cookie dough really counts). I even forgot to mix all the wet ingredients separately and I used your substitute with the half sour cream and half 1% milk for buttermilk. The glaze is fantastic and my 5 year old said it’s better than the ones we buy from our local bakery which means the world. Big hugs, thank you!

✅ I updated this recipe to use only all purpose flour with the option of whole wheat. It seems whole wheat pastry flour is very hard to find during the pandemic.

I found your YouTube channel during the pandemic. My mom and I watched and loved your talk show back in the day. Thank you for the amazing recipes dear Jenny—whenever I think of something I’d like to make I check here first and I’ve recommended your channel even to relatives in Australia and Hungary!

I threw some cinnamon and nutmeg in as well

Love love love this recipe! They just came out of my oven and are delicious. This recipe is a keeper!

Ran to the store to pick up what ingredients that i needed to make this and saw the fresh blueberry muffins and ate them, maybe next week. I’m so weak.

Just made a half batch (onesie household) — not only so scrumptious –these muffies are Beautiful!!
*Small tip to the eggless-baking types I used Bob’s Red Mill “Egg Replacer” (a powder, just add water), and these lemon blueberry muffins rose high and light. Also, made the half whole-wheat pastry flour version — and used lemon yogurt mixed with whole milk as a substitute for buttermilk. Will buy some dry buttermilk for future batches.
Another thank you, Jenny.!

I used Unsweetened Almond Milk! AMAZING!!

Running to the grocery store to buy buttermilk but excited to tackle another one of your recipes Jenny!!

Buy a can of dry buttermilk and keep it on your shelf. That way buttermilk is always on hand.

Yes! That’s what I always keep on-hand! We have The Saco Pantry’s Cultured Buttermilk Blend available around here.

Finally found whole wheat pastry flour, muffins were so good, I did use frozen Wymans blueberrys from Maine, did the rinsing, blotting dry, flouring method and they came out so well, no bleeding whatsoever, the glaze was a plus, never did that before, I prefer smaller berries rather than cultivated ones, but did use 1 1/2 cups, wonderful recipe, thanks for sharing?

Hi Jenny, I love these muffins and have made them several times. I was wondering if I could bake them in two mini loaf pans? Let me k ow what you think. I have made several of your recipes and love when new ones are posted! Thanks for sharing all your recipes with us!!

I was thinking same thing Karen! I don’t see why not … just adjust your cooking time probably to 45 mins??

I just popped them in the oven. Made them exactly as the recipe said to make them. I love your recipes. They aren’t loaded with butter and the oil makes everything quite tasty.

Today I had blueberries I wanted to use and I started looking at recipes and all of a sudden I thought ‘check out Jenny Can Cook I bet she has a recipe for Blueberry Muffins’. Sure enough.

Thanks again. BTW I’m once again thinking about your Oven BBQ Ribs. I am inviting the kids over for dinner next time I fix them.
